London Trauma Surgeon David Nott has launched the David Nott Foundation to improve the standards and practice of humanitarian surgery. The Adventure Medic crew has been lucky enough to hear David speak on several occasions now – he is an inspiring speaker with a degree of personal courage that the rest of us can only dream about.
“I established the David Nott Foundation to provide surgeons and medics with the skills they need to provide relief in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. As well as providing the best medical care, it is my hope that David Nott Foundation surgeons will train local healthcare professionals and improve the healthcare of all in the local community.”
Mr David Nott
The Foundation has a number of scholarships available each year for surgeons. Successful applicants will have their places on the Surgical Training for Austere Environments (STAE) course, directed by David Nott and held at the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, funded by the Foundation. The Foundation may also make a contribution to travel and accommodation costs in London for the duration of the course.
