25th February – 24th March 2022 – Thomas’s Daheim
Thomas’s London Day Schools are looking for a doctor to oversee the medical welfare of pupils and staff during trips to Thomas’s Daheim, a private hotel in the Austrian ski resort of Wurzeralm. This job will include medical care of 70 pupils (10 & 11 year olds) & 10 staff each week for the duration of their visits on the mountain and within the hotel facilities. Ideally the candidate should have in-date adult, paediatric and trauma life support qualifications, as well as experience in emergency and remote environments caring for young people.
Remuneration & Expenses:
Full board (excluding alcohol), accommodation and one return trip from your home address to Thomas’s Daheim will be covered in addition to £3000 pay.

IPPG are looking for doctors to work at its Machermo rescue post during the pre and post-monsoon seasons. You will be situated at Machermo at 4450m and at Gokyo at 4800m. This role provides an opportunity for a volunteer to practice mountain medicine in the heart of the Everest region. We are looking for an adventurous and self-motivated doctor/nurse practitioner/paramedic (must be a prescriber) to work on a tropical island resort in Madagascar starting 1st December 2020. Essentials: fully registered with licensing body plus prescribing abilities, excellent general medical foundation with emergency medicine experience, ALS and ATLS qualifications, procedural skills including suturing, tropical medicine experience/qualification, experience working remotely and independently. You must have the appropriate skills to manage a critically ill patient overnight if required as nocturnal medevacs are not possible. You will be providing medical care to hotel guests on the island (max of 44 guests), staff and assisting the local nurse in treating more complex village cases. You should also be willing to be involved with teaching local staff on first aid/basic life support. However, you will have a large amount of ‘off time’ to enjoy all the island has to offer: crystal clear waters, SUP, kayaking, an abundance of wildlife and the most spectacular sunsets imaginable. $1000 gross per month salary. Long distance swimmer and ocean advocate Ben Lecomte is looking for a volunteer medic to join a crew of 10 on a 3-month swimming/sailing expedition from Hawaii to California. After spending 165 days at sea and swimming over 1500 nautical miles off the coast of Japan in 2018 for The Swim, Ben and crew now plan to head into the highest concentration of ocean plastic in the world, commonly known as the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’. The crew will support Ben’s swim, while collecting scientific samples and sharing their story with the goal to raise awareness on plastic pollution and help uncover the myth of the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’. The swim itself is very taxing on Ben, and we will be supported 24/7 by an onshore medical team MSOS from Southampton, UK. However, for the added safety of the crew and Ben we are searching for a medic to join the 9 other crew members on board the support vessel. Previous sailing experience is preferred but not required. In previous series, the volunteers were stripped of all the comforts of civilisation, and cast away on a remote deserted island. They filmed themselves, and shared their raw and exhilarating story of survival. This year there is also a prize.
We are looking for people who are fit and able to participate, of all ages (18+), each with their unique skillset, from a variety of backgrounds and professions who are confident in their ability to thrive but they do not need any experience in adventure or survival pursuits to participate. We are looking for a doctor to work with our fundraising participants on Kilimanjaro treks from approx 13th May – 7th June 2018. We have 3 groups of American students travelling to Tanzania in May to take on Kilimanjaro and we are looking for a doctor who would be based on the mountain for the duration of their treks to support them. Whilst in-country the doctor will be responsible for meeting each of the Choose A Challenge groups and providing medical support during their trek. Expenses included: Flights, hotel accommodation in Moshi and in tents with a cook and basic shower and toilet at Barafu camp, transfers, food and water, travel to and from the airport. If the doctor would like to go on our safari or Zanzibar extensions afterwards we can arrange this at cost price. All medical supplies are provided by the company. Not Included: Travel insurance, medical indemnity, alcohol, trekking equipment including sleeping bags. We send our doctors, the participants medical details to check approx three months before the challenges so you will need to set aside a few hours to check these and potentially contact a small amount of participants. 15/4/14 – Diabetes UK Channel Swim Relay
Medics required to cover swims between 11-18 July. It will involve being on a boat in the English Channel for upwards of 18 hours, providing medical assistance to the swimmers should they need it. A number of the swimmers have diabetes so experience of dealing with the condition is preferable, although not essential. Likely problems are sea sickness, hypothermia, diabetic problems and jellyfish stings. Medics will need to bring their own kit, but the cost of kit and any other expenses will be refunded. Discovery are looking for medic to take part in a new programme, both behind and in front of the camera. The medic will need to be qualified as a doctor/nurse/paramedic and also have experience in the wilderness, and ideally medical experience on expeditions. The medic will head out on a wilderness expedition to the Brecon Beacons, helping an expert guide Bear Grylls-wannabes on a range of challenges. Filming commences next week on the 5th-6th February.
